Anyway, my attention was drawn on this announcement to the fact that there are now 3 drugs being tabled for public scrutiny.
I have always believed that if the concept of what Mr. Melrose was on to was in fact correct, that this might produce a whole new family of drugs.
This announcement reaffirms my belief that it is the science behind Recce 327 that is the big winner, not just the drug itself. Recce 529 and 435 are confirmations that there will be further specialised drugs that will target exclusive bacteria/viruses. They may be all founded on the original concept of 327, but they will be optimised for performance against specific biological threats.
Ideally, it would be great if 327 could deal with all threats, but to delay it's development in favour of a "panacea" would potentially be counterproductive to the objective of curing Sepsis; the original objective.
