The inclusion of a lithium vs. vanadium graphic from 10 years ago irks me a bit.
- 30-50 years is insanely optimistic, the electrolyte may last that long but other components in the system don't.
- flow batteries have efficiencies around 80%, which will generate more heat than a lithium battery storing the same amount of power.
- charges and discharges simultaneously? What?
- can release energy instantaneously? They're fast but compared to lithium they're not instantaneous.
- flow batteries are suitable for connection to the grid and lithium batteries aren't? Huh?
Don't get me wrong, vanadium redox batteries are cool but if they're trying to spruik the benefits of vanadium as a producer, a 10 year old outdated graphic won't help the cause.
