Having worked in the banking industry, legacy systems are like lead weights in the saddlebag of commerce. You'd think banks, of anyone, would be pretty good at data - and I guess to a point they are - but typically these systems have been built for specific purposes and resist adaptation. Plug-ins are the normal 'solution', but even integrating them is fraught.

Identitii is making a big promise here to convert 'rubbish in' into valuable data out, even promising to automatically fix missing or wrong data. Phew! It's a massive claim, but ... but, if they can pull it off with the first couple of customers, word-of-mouth will see it swept up by a whole raft of institutions. Convincing the likes of HSBC and Citi is a bloody good start: I only hope the walk matches the impressive talk. If so, punters, we are off to the races big time.
