Me too, don't get me started. Some are better than others and I won't name names, but one bank uses a system that only has account numbers up to 6 digits long. When they designed the system they didn't think they'd need more. So every time they open an account, they have another system whose sole job is to work out which account number they can re-use. These things are old mainframe systems whose only quality is that they are stable. And CTO's who have the balls to take on a replacement project are rare.
Do you know why until Osko transaction descriptions only allowed up to 16 characters? Because that's the amount of data you can fit on a punchcard. Same systems.
Anyway, rant over. But yes, if Identitii can suck the relevant data out of systems like these with minimal impact and convert it to meaningful compliance data, they're onto something.
