The issue here is not whether you can separate lithium from oilfield brine. Everyone knows you can do that, it's just that no one seems to know how much it costs. The issue is whether you can separate money from investors, by telling them that you have a patent when you do not. You can't get away with that in my country, but as with football, maybe Australian Rules is a different game.
