I find the west kissing and making up to be very unlikely. There are a group of western elites (mainly Germany and France) who would potentially "kiss and makeup" as you say if the terms were favorable to them. Germany and France are not entirely cohesive on the idea of making up either. For USA, who has it's boot on the throat of the EU (metaphorically speaking)…the struggle is more existential. Russia also considers this an existential struggle and with both feeling that way it's very hard to come to a peaceful solution.

Baltic states, Poland and Scandinavia (mainly Finland) are concerned they are next. Turkey wants to play both sides. Australia must do whatever the dominant naval power says, so it's still team USA for now. Canada is also bound to America (quite literally) and UK appears to also be on board with the USA. Japan and South Korea have no option but to align themselves with the west as well.

The issue is that these things sometimes lead to inertia. If we study the cold war for examples, we can see the nightmarish issues in the soviet union were present very early on but still took decades to culminate in the collapse of the soviet union. Inertia can just make things grind away for ages, even if they're not the most optimal or ethical path.

In this case it's possible the inertia will begin by the gentle reshoring of manufacturing and vertical integration of supply chains under the west's control, eventually shifting to outright hostility as the currency continues to decline, chipped away from enemies on all sides with their own reasons for pushing de-dollarization.

The politics and the economics are very closely linked IMO.
It's actually quite sad to see all of this playing out, it's like a slow motion train wreck with no signs of stopping and will create much suffering.
