Born in BH. 4th generation. Worked 1700metres underground when North BH was still operational.
BH has looked like that for 140 plus years. The entire population knows well that it’s a mining town with a storied Oz history and zero alternative prospects for continued prosperity—well survival is the accurate word..
You can take this to the bank—- there will be no opposition from anyone in the community- they will likely welcome some increased noise etc if it means a reversal of the awful creeping death the town has been undergoing for the last 40- 50 years. In early 70s — population 33000 approximately—5000 directly employed on the “ line of lode” —local economy booming ( in hindsight)
Today population 17000 - and with a much less affluent socioeconomic/age makeup— approximately 500 working on mining related jobs.Local economy creeping ever downward in line with the population makeup.
So if local opposition Is your only concern I believe you can completely forget that one.
