Let's assume for a minute that the cement plug didn't fail, and that the formation was rife with a situation known as fracture swarms/corridors (these can be up to 1km long in carbonates), and that they were in communication with the aquifer below.

Could this explain dry oil for 3 days and than a rapidly increasing watercut?

Not withstanding the failure of the swell packer system in the original ST-1 wellbore (acid damage) and its replacement, could it also explain formation water in all 4 isolated sections of the sidetrack wellbore (where at least 4 swell packers would have to fail, and assuming Nido had learnt about and acted on swell packer compatibility by then)?

Not saying this is or isn't, only that we don't know and still await the forensics.
Merely suppling another field of speculation that others might like to comment on...mind you, if correct, p1K would be better off keeping his dollar!

Some specs on the original exp well in 2008.

TD: 1,875mTR (no mention of OWC breach).
Top of Nido LF: 1,635mRT.
Lost Circ Zone: 1,782 - 1,784.5mRT

The initial perforation interval for production in 2010 was a zone from 1,606 - 1,650mTVDss.
