    Canada ran an anti-dumping case against Israel just recently. for cannabis. Apparently the preliminary findings are positive. Ie - guilty as sin.

    Australian producers think this route may be the best bet rather than tarriffs - given Au's standing position is still very 'free trade' in general.
    Lol, Added bonus; the Canadians won't be able to complain.
    Unfortunately, Australia's record on using its anti-dumping protections is pretty skinny.

    Global free trade is definitely in retreat these days - which may be a good thing for many reasons - but it would be a disaster for Aus current "rent seeking" business model.
    Go ask BHP, Peabody and the Big-Ag Nats what they think of protectionism. - and any treasurer that wants to balance the budget.
    But yes, we need some sort of intervention if we want a heathy local industry. for sure. and soon.
