There is no reason that GML would track with the gold price for the reasons you mention. The only way at this stage I can see this would impact us is if investors had a long term bullish outlook for gold and wanted to get into a micro cap explorer cheaply before they finalised their maiden reserves.
I don’t think it will too long before our maiden reserve is above 1moz fwiw
