LAST week, we gave Fairstar Resources a pat on the back for its diligent work in placing the overhang in its stock, which was caused by its exposure to the Opes Prime debacle.

All we can say today is, we hope Fairstar's gentle reminder to all of its directors - as to their obligations regarding disclosing share purchases in the company - sinks in.

The other directors can thank Alan Rudd for the reminder memo, after his “honest mistake” in taking three days extra to notify the Australian Securities Exchange when he bought 2.82 million Fairstar shares for his wife.

Apparently, Rudd got mixed up as to when he actually had to notify the ASX, given the purchase was done off-market.

Instead of reporting the share purchase within five days, based on the date of the contract to buy the shares off-market, he thought the five-day period applied to when the purchase was settled and processed by the share registry.

Fair enough, but a gentle reminder never goes astray.
