Yep. Gold hydrogen is irrelevant at the moment. While i hope there are successful discoveries, even conventional gas discoveries take a long time to go from exploration to development, and as you say, there are many obstacles to storing and shipping effectively.
The other reason it's not a threat is simply volume. Discoveries are hard enough. Getting to the needed volumes is another thing altogether.
