An important part of the Hazer process when applied to biogas that seems to be ignored is the production of high quality fertiliser. Because, in anaerobic digestion, the nitrogen, that would otherwise escape into the atmosphere in the form of ammonia, remains in the slurry to produce a high quality fertiliser. This then results in a third income stream with the process producing graphite, hydrogen and great fertiliser. Unfortunately Hazer believe that the process is not economic below 2500 tpa hydrogen. Piggeries have been burning biogas successfully and economically for decades and making use of the resulting high quality fertiliser byproduct. I believe there's plenty of room for further development in this area in the future.
