agree — with a population of 85 million and a potential addressable market of around USD $66 million, Turkey will be an important market for OncoSil. Based on Sirtex’s experience, it has the potential to scale up quickly.
Nigel Lange said in the February webinar:
“We’ve just opened up the Turkish market… it will take probably six months for that market to really develop, but prior experience in that market with another technology shows that once confidence builds, Turkey can generate significant numbers.”
One of the big opportunities in Turkey is the expected shift towards percutaneous delivery, which fits well with the PANCOsil strategy. It broadens the base of specialists who can administer the treatment and makes it easier for more hospitals to adopt the technology — a big advantage in a system like Turkey’s.
And it’s worth remembering: Sirtex did exceptionally well in Turkey, despite early doubts. Lange, who launched Sirtex in the US and Europe, understands that market — and his confidence in Turkey as a growth driver carries weight.
The only thing I’d push a bit further on is the revenue forecast. Based on conversations with Nigel, Germany could be doing 20–30 procedures per month by the end of the year under the G-BA program. If that happens, we’re looking at USD $500K–$750K/month from Germany alone — so the numbers could end up stronger than expected.
