East Timor article in the AFR, mentions that the Woodside Timor Sea Sunrise gas project will cost $16 billion to develop, which includes infrastructure, and as a result of the shift to renewables will never happen. The window for that sort of spend having now closed.
Bad for East Timor, but whotf knew a project could cost that much to develop. For that you'd need a deep pocketed farm in partner.
For our pissant capex you need a few drill bits, well heads and a length of pipe ... boom
