I think everyone can agree that Zimbabwe needs this project not least to show it has moved on from the disastrous Mugabe years. The project will not only show the world that the country is open for business and a safe place to invest, the local benefits will be huge.
My fear is that while all the power brokers there are waiting and watching like hyenas for the money to start flowing in from the project and to get their individual share. The problem is that they are not a monolith but rather a loose grouping that act on their own self interest and fear missing out if they wait too long or allow another in power to get there first. This makes for a highly unstable system. In these situations a strong man leader can at least control the hyenas to some extent. I am still nervously confident this project plane can be landed but agree with the poster that it can go a lot lower before it rises.
