Not having a go at you Pep, and agree that free carry on this bet is a sensible way to go, particularly if you are not in a place where you can afford to take a loss. Definitely a strategy worth looking into for anyone who placed a bet pre bake 3, assuming you can afford the cash & time to pursue it of course.
My opinion however is that it's poor form for DM to suggest that to a bunch of people at a company briefing.
We seem to differ on that. So what, the sky won't fall.
