Takeovers not only force the price up but make competitors stand up and take notice and say, hey, maybe bno's compounds are worth some money. Much easier to make a takeover by stealth using the third party proxy - such as a venture capital company which has already sold to you once - to put the stock out there. Look at the size of Cephalon, it's a global pharma with enormous buying power. If others realised it was having a sniff, what do you think that would do to the share price?
