    In genuine IOCG deposits (Olympic Dam, Prominent Hill, Ernest Henry) the sulphides are not hosted in quartz veins, rather they are associated with iron oxides and carbonates. In that sense they are quartz poor, unlike a porphyry Cu deposit, for example. They can have quartz in them though, especially residual quartz from the host rock.
