The average annual rainfall at Rhyolite Ridge is 10mm (1/2 inch per annum).
By comparison, Lake Eyre gets about 100 mm (4 inch per annum).
I would not be surprised if the herbivores are not "locals", but have been abandoned by travellers,
now no longer visiting the area dueto the lockdowns.
That is . . . empty bins are placing pressure on the buckwheat.
Besides, how can you have a drought in a placethat is always in drought ?
