The operations in Uganda are on care and maintenance and I would imagine will be on-sold ASAP. The company has moved from being a potential miner into a much more lucrative process of recovering REs from scrap.
Things are moving quite rapidly and I am confident that the UK will fund the build out at Belfast and secure a great supply of high grade REs to the UK and possibly Europe. I read that a decision on funding is due by 31 March. The decision making process in the UK has to go through a number of committees for approval. So far as we know there is no other RE supply solution outside of China and it seems that few western country wants to be 100% dependent on China for critical REs even though they currently are now. Personally I dont think that China can afford to mess around with supply of REs as their economy relies on selling so may products to the rest of the world.
However that leaves both North America (USA and Canada) and much of Europe without a 100% guaranteed supply of REs were tensions with China to cause China to reduce supply of REs.
IXR's board has indicated that North America is number 1 in line for creating RE recycling and Europe will be screaming for a guaranteed supply of REs before too long and we have a ready solution.
