The competition in this space is really heating up, with some big players coming on-board with their own IoT platforms very recently - Hitachi and SAP. I believe these two were just launched in May 2016. I'm not sure if they are direct competitors to what Buddy is doing.

It remains to be seen how good these platforms are...

For comparison, Samsung's Artik platform which launched in May 2015 (reference: http://www.theregister.co.uk/2015/05/13/samsung_artik/ - once again not sure if direct competitor, doesn't seem to be from quick overview), still seems to be lacking according to this guy:

Something to look forward to in a few years for Buddy:

C3 IoT (formetly C3 Energy) has been doing IoT since before IoT was the buzzword, operating mainly in the energy sector. It's been around for 7 years and currently has some impressive stats
    http://c3iot.com/products/c3-iot-platform/

With an elastic cloud, distributed-computing architecture capable of handling data sets growing by hundreds of terabytes per day and millions of messages per second, the platform has 70 million smart devices and sensors under management at more than 20 production deployments worldwide.

The C3 IoT platform offers unprecedented performance results, processing petabyte data volumes at speeds of 35 million sensor reads per minute, with 3,000 real-time analytics generating 12 million business insights per day at 97 percent accuracy rates.

These are some very impressive numbers. One can see why IoT is projected to be a $trillion market in the coming years. Simply incredible! As previously stated, the world can have 10 Buddy Platforms and still probably wouldn't meet the demand
