and to that point, anyone who cares to research the "big player" company webistes, they're not shy in telling the world where they all have these projects, and what I felt in visually overlaying a number of them within the region, is that Cuba is encircled by big players in other countries with JV projects, and to that point, we've heard AAU describe Cuba as a largely unexplored mining frontier, which all seems to be falling into place.

Highlights included hole SPD-018 intersecting 60.5 metres at 14.37 grams per ton of gold, 1.81 g/t platinum and 2.46 g/t palladium and SPD-013 intersecting 23.0 metres at 20.68 g/t gold, 3.26 g/t platinum and 3.91 g/t palladium. Clearly these are superb results, and it is also very rare to see such impressive widths combined with high grade gold, platinum and palladium assays. In the update, Colossus stated that the drilling “demonstrated strong lateral and vertical continuity of high grade gold-platinum-palladium mineralisation along a substantial portion of the central mineralized zone.” Other holes have also contained excellent grades of Rhodium and Iridium – two high value Platinum Group Metals (PGMs)

First discovered in 1979, it rapidly became a magnate for artisanal miners. At its peak in the 1980’s, there were around 80,000 miners digging into the soft oxides that outcropped at surface. It is estimated that around 2 million ounces of gold was pulled out. What the miners didn’t know however was that the ore also contained PGM’s. In the 1980’s Vale (NYSE:RIO) was also actively drilling the license, completing over 200 holes (45,000 metres of drill core). To make long story short, things turned ugly towards the end of the 1980’s, with the pit wall collapsing, being abandoned and allowed to fill with water. It took until 2007 to sort out the ownership structure.Enter Colossus Minerals in 2007, which jumped at chance to earn up to 75% in the project from COOMIGASP – the company that represents Brazilian stakeholders. Colossus completed a listing on the TSX in 2008, using the funds raised to review the historic data, carry out additional reconnaissance, mapping, topography studies, environmental studies and of course, new drilling.

Seems the man knows his way around an economic deposit and is known amongst the Sth American Mining communit so if he is actively promoting a 500Mt porphyry deposit is up for grabs you can bet some ears will ahve pricked.. H8tey
