No I wasn't confusing the two studies.
Was just interested in how the readers of the 008 trial accounted for the rescue medication use in the results that trial participants provide.
Thinking more about it they must say to participants that they have to be off rescue medication for several days when they ask them the questions about pain and function.
But if someone is in the placebo group and taking rescue medication 5 times more than the iPPS group they are probably going to give a lower impression of the pain that they are generally in most of the time.
Hence in my mind the difference could be even greater which is good
