Granted there may be certain product development security restrictions placed on GCN when it comes to announcements, but if you are going to announce strategic partnerships etc then even a junior grade journalist knows you've got to provide evidence of the relationship. To just throw company names into the breeze without explanatory notes or background information is naive to say the least.
Information on a partner's modus operandi doesn't have to touch on sensitive topics, it just has to serve investors with enough information so they can do their due diligence to feel comfortable with their investments.
The announcement about Boom this week is a classic example.
