Ansteel, GBG's partner built the pellet plant in China so they reaped all the benefit.
For Grange its OK to produce pellets in Tasmania due to using hydro-power, its also the reason why Grange originally planned to ship the Southdown concentrate to Malaysia to produce the concentrate into pellets. (cheap power unlike Australia).

I've suggested before that FMG and Grange should build a pellet plant together at SCORE Sarawak in Malaysia, they have the cheapest hydro power in the world. This is where OM Holdings has its huge ferro alloy plant and Press Metal has its aluminium smelter in Asia. These are the largest smelters in Asia outside China. They operate there because they have the cheapest power.
Unfortunately just producing concentrates FMG will be at the mercy of China, thats why its best to produce pellets outside China.
