MMG has been trucking copper from the Las Bambas mine in Apurimac to port for some time, and thats over ~470kms. The route and roads have become more established with some infrastructure improvements over the past few years.
Its the same reason why the Chinese (MMG) will want and fund the railway to cut their costs.
