Thinking about this further, he effectively receives 2m shares if he hangs around for 4 years. Hard to believe it won’t be 20c in 4 years. Probably 20c in the next few weeks. The other 3m shares have certain hurdles presumably around various milestones agreed between the parties.
So, really this is about getting him to commit to a 3/4 year plan for growth and development of the company, which is fine by me.
How well he does from this, comes down to where the share price lands in 3/4 years. If it’s a measly 20c he will do ok. If it’s $5, he will be set for life, and so will I, as a reasonably large shareholder. So it really comes down to his drive, ambition and capability as to where this lands, in concert of course with the Board.
Performance shares makes a lot of sense, but it always comes down to drive, ambition and capabilities. We will see.
