at the very least the ‘Significant Events’ section should give full disclosure of the matter. It’s many, many years since I had the ‘thrill’ (not) of auditing, but at the least I’d be wanting to put a comment in the report to this effect ‘Readers are referred to commentary noted in the significant events prior to financial year end which are likely to have a negative impact in FY24, the degree of which is uncertain at this time’
i just don’t think they can give a clean bill of health knowing the status - uncertain as it is - but it is all to the downside.
The storm clouds are gathering and I am sure West Media are reviewing the current status quo - even getting it vetted legally - their poison pen article won’t help the cause.
