• The EIS concluded that the Project provides substantial employment, community development and
economic benefits to the local, regional, Provincial and Federal economies and that any potential
adverse environmental impacts can be eliminated, mitigated or offset.
• Based on the substantial progress of the EIS to date and the extensive engagement with
Indigenous Nations and other stakeholder groups, NWP sought the consent of IAAC to extend the
time limit for completion of the environmental assessment. Key Indigenous Nations supported
NWP’s request for an extension to enable completion of the environmental assessment process.
