I now know what sterilisation drilling (or condemnation drilling) means. For the ignorant, like me, it means they drill to ensure there is no mineral wealth (Au in this case) under any proposed infrastructure such as a processing plant and waste dumps.
It seems they might be very busy in the coming weeks trying to find a sterile site for the processing plant the way they are going. Nice problem to have.
