I imagine the difficulty with this is that there give or take 3 grams of gold per tonne. That gold might be simple to find if it was in loamy soils. But what if it is embedded in rock, which it probably is? That means a lot of heavy blasting, heavy machinery to cart the rock, and heavy machinery to crush the rock before it can be processed.
That is why poor prospectors currently mining some tenements as shown in photos are still poor.
