The Fiji gold mine has a desperate need to get costs down. They are struggling to make money as it is. The alternative biogeneration plant, although a great idea, would be funded by the Fiji suger corp, which in turn, appears to be drowing in debt (as opposed to recent floods) - so the geothermal option (if it exists) is a real corporate play. Meaning if proven techically, debt funding is a real possibility.
Likewise, I really like the Saipan project. Americans know and understand geothermal energy. They make up the vast majority of geothermal investment (projects and funding) globally at present.
