Australian radiopharma company Telix to double capacity

Telix Pharmaceuticals doubled its in-house manufacturing capacity in 2023 and said it will double it again this year. “We are simultaneously investing in manufacturing expansion, which will allow us to service demand up to $50 million by 2026,” Telix CEO Chris Behrenbruch said at the conference, according to an Alphasense transcript.

The Australian company invested over $100 million in scaling up its manufacturing and R&D activities in 2023. It has three commercial manufacturing facilities in Belgium, including a distribution hub for radiopharmaceuticals, with nine GMP lines for global distribution, he added. Telix is expanding its footprint in Melbourne, where the company is headquartered, he noted.

It first opened its in-house radiopharma production site in Seneffe, Belgium, in June last year, serving as the company’s primary manufacturing site for radioisotopes as well as other commercial and clinical assets. It acquired the site from German company Eckert & Ziegler Strahlen und Medizintechnik in 2020.

In its pipeline, Telix has six commercial products, including imaging agents and therapies for prostate cancer and bone marrow conditioning. It also has six clinical-stage oncology assets such as for kidney, brain and prostate cancers.
