Dont regret posting the above post ! Im one of those people where too much information is better, and its better to have a friendly warning than not. I had also forgotten about their unlisted fund..... looking at some of their other holdings makes me think that they are extremely unlucky or their stock selection process needs revising.
Their 2 takeover targets with AWE and Sirtex (although they gave away a lot of the value of Sirtex by selling too early after the bid had been made) was a good sign to start with but since then, there has been no single stock that I can ID that has been a winner and their top 5 holdings have appeared to be average at best. Compare their performance with GC1 and MG although to be fair SEC is into emerging coys and MG into microcaps.
The monthly reports from SEC also appear to be scant, and lacking in any real useful information for the investor.
To be honest, I wouldnt really lose any sleep if I did dispose of my holdings and would probably put more with MG. Their NTA hasnt really changed and they really havent engaged with shareholders in any meaningful way; in the same way that MG or Wilson does.
