Given the very broad middle range (10-90% spodumene) in the zonation model, the differentiation between spodumene and petalite in the deposit is not as clear cut as the text of the announcement is otherwise suggesting. The reference to isochemical inversion means the spodumene throughout the pegmatite has replaced primary petalite, it is not a product of magmatic layering/differentiation. Still another 215 samples to be tested in this XRD program and more metallurgical work to bring recoveries to acceptable levels.
Interesting also that SQM have provided a bridging loan of US$1.5 million which can be set-off against a break fee should the transaction not proceed to the finalisation of the JV documentation. It would be funny if this deal didn't make it past September because of met issues. Esh
