Your theory sounds highly probably to me. The big market makers are always opportunists. They just cashed in on long stop loss orders and irrational fear.
Buy when there is blood in the streets. When the Indians start to buy physical gold again I expect RRL will quickly climb back to $5.50. Then could go much further if the Chinese gold lovers chase the gold price in a FOMO run. Add some good inflation in the east or west, and RRL will go higher again.
I might buy more around this price.
