I'm wondering if that is due to Origin's domgas sales being under mid/long-term contracts made when the gas price was a fair bit cheaper that the current spot price. If so the outlook is good as newer contracts will be at higher prices.
Origin certainly understands that it operates with a social license and that being excessively profitable would be politically suicidal, but I don't think they're absorbing ~50% domestic discounts for customers by choice. If so they're doing a bad job of spruiking that for some positive PR.
