I think it has taken a lot of factors in regards to the scarcity level that Natural gas has become to a position as a result of environmental pressure and fracking bans in the Southern States, and now BHP pulling out of the Bass area as you say, the only gas around will be with the companies that have a proven field and infrastructure and proximity to refining pipelines and supply, and COI have some pretty good fields, close to as such a market.
Getting closer to a time where Comet might light up the sky as gas just gets scarcer and scarcer. i think the company knew it would be a waiting game.
