US$2000 is a very big deal and if gold wants to comfortably move past that it would be best served by having a long, consolidated run up to normalise people to the idea of $19xx. Any charge over $2K will get the crud knocked out of it unless there's a month or more of baseline support (barring any exogenous, macro crisis).
