Having been undergound at the morning star numerous times, there is no stopes 1.55m to 1.75m wide in the current workings.
The flattish nature of the reefs do not allow narrow mining unless you are a midget.
They did try 2 blastings per face at one stage, firstly fire the ore (quartz) then muck out, followed by firing of the waste rock then mucking that out. Very slow and labour intensive.
Beside the grades of 3.97g/t and 6.18g/t are considered pretty average to poor for The morning star.
