Passive seismic is a variation of traditional seismic that uses natural sounds in the environment instead of explosives, airguns, vibroseis trucks.. As such it is more environmentally friendly.

This array is causing a stir amongst some in the field but the rollout is considered too slow in some areas so others are adding to the system. Heard a comment about this at the conference where I first came across this.
What it means for a small very local survey I don't know. Certainly appears like it will be useful for very big picture concepts. Longer time frames might help detail?
