An investor should and normally does due diligence and invests ( not gambles !!) based on the fundamentals of the company , the sector it is in and their risk profile.
It is hardly a gamble for institutions with pockets deep enough that can use said funds to artificially depress the price. ( it is a 1% gamble that an announcement will be released to drive the price up that they would not be aware of and invariably have prior warning )
