Dividend expectations need to be dialled back. I would rather EVN pay off debt than receive a dividend. I've said this in the past and I will say it again; gold miners are not known for their dividend. There are better dividends elsewhere if that is your priority.
I have been investing in gold miners for 20+ years. Low as it is EVN, NST and TBR are actually a minority in gold mining in that they have paid dividends consistently and for a long time now. Nick Giorgetta's Regis used to be the best divvy goldie in the past but that gravy train is now over.
The best dividends in mining is and will be from the big boys BHP, RIO, FMG etc... These should be your first pick if dividends are your priority. All part in understanding what it is you bought. Expecting something(dividends) when it is not within the nature of someone/company(gold miners) is a no-win situation. Aesop's scorpion and the frog tale comes to mind.
