Yeah the idea is to take advantage of the smashes and buy weakness, playing their game against them and sell into strength. Or that was the idea up to this point as the game appears to be changing as buying weakness remains the case but only selling into very heavy strength if at all as the world wakes up to the value of gold and the lack of value in what they call money.
In regards to gold at Fort Knox they probably have gold but how many times has it been rehypothecated??? And when the likes of the Chinese buy gold they don't take paper promises.
