there are some interesting papers available through researchgate on all things ree, one that caught my attention was tracking the progress of the chinese mining of ree ionic clays, and how they have moved through 3 phases and now mine via insitu leaching (isl). isl is excellent because the surface environment is left alone, and only the target elements are brought to surface for processing and refinement of the metals. isl is also a really cheap way to mine, and all that is required is drilling bores and pumping the correct solutions. lets see how this plays out in wa where the enviro crowd seem to the tail wagging the dog.
