The recent power shortage in China has resulted in many Zn smelters cutting production since Oct8. As I looked at this morning's prices, zinc seems to have broken out of the stubborn US$3100/t resistance and now trade above US$3400/t. In AUD terms, that is A$4637/t. The price for Zinc AMI received for FY21 is A$3613/t. Well, AMI not only has the skyrocketing price of Zn as a tailwind but is slated to produce even more Zn this year, c. 31.0 - 34.5kt. Last year's output was 25.1kt. The additional 6kt is valued at around A$28M, which brings down the gold AISC even more. At the upper end of production, the extra 9.4kt will bring in A$43m. Let's see what the coming quarterly results are. GLTAH.
