Hi Rivella, I was working for Broken Hill Holdings between 1987 and 1990 at the A1. Great little mine. Ray Wright was the manager with chris burns the underground Forman. Used to walk in the 7 level adit where it met the internal shaft. Did most of my work on the 14, 16, 17 levels. Level 23 was always underwater. I cannot see the new nova levels (below the 23 level) being any different to the levels above 23. There will be some ball tearer high grade reefs with some low grade ones. On each level there was approximately 6 distinct separate reefs, each having been stoped out in the 60s and 70s. Broken Hill Holdings (gaffneys creek gold mine, a subsidiary) were only scrapping out the already broken dirt with very little true air legging in the stopes. I can't remember the tonnes or grade but i knew we were making a profit. A ten head stamp battery with copper plates and wilfley tables were being used when i started but they replaced that with a small 3 tonne an hour ball mill in about 1989 (John Howard politician was at the opening) It will take time to develop to the north and south off the decline crosscuts on each new level before any good stoping grades will be seen, at least six months.
