Hi Borrks,
**riel Boric is due to be inaugurated as President on 11 March. He is firmly left wing (I'm going to refrain from using the term radical left, though some would argue this is where he sits) though he did moderate his rhetoric considerably in order to win the centrist vote. He has previously promised to end neo-liberalism in Chile.
As his party prepares for government, a new constitution is being drafted. This currently includes a proposal to nationalise all mines. However, this has a long way to go before becoming implemented. It must get through the drafting stage, be passed by two thirds of the legislature and then be voted on in a referendum.
As you can imagine, the miners are blowing the story up to portray impending disaster. It's certainly not that yet. However, we'll need to wait and see how Boric will behave once in office. There are early indications that this could be a time of significant social change for Chile.
