I also think that, if Linda has not been recruited from Asimwe's existing pool of friends and colleagues (as it would appear), then this is potentially a major positive and hopefully signals some recognition that this amazing asset deserves more than "friends and family" to manage it.
Like you, I've heard that Alistair and Asimwe had a difficult working relationship and therefore Asimwe probably decided to go to people he felt comfortable with rather than try to find the best, most experienced people for the roles. If this is the case, this also signals something quite unfortunate as it should be all about what is best for the tier 1 resource not what's best for his personal comfort?
